How to camp with a child- domestically seasoned version

We recently went on a 2 day camping trip with our toddler Dino at a local camp ground. This was our second trip of camping and hopefully many more camping trips to come. And yes we use a tent (gasp).

Camping trip 2

Camping trip two we were on our own. No family to help us and no one to entertain our little. It was just my husband and I. We were very excited to go camping and be in the great outdoors. This time it didn’t go as well as we thought. Lets just start off that we made a camping reservation one week prior to going. We didn’t want it to rain the ENTIRE TIME, so we waited till the forecast called for sun, sun and more sun.

Second off, if you currently own a toddler or have had one just recently you KNOW that they don’t stop moving. EVEN when they are resting they move and twitch. So my toddler dino was on the move the whole entire time. We didn’t stop and he didn’t stop. We didn’t make it even one night.

Our noise neighbors decided to CHOP wood at 9pm at night till 930. That woke Dino toddler up from a sound sleep. I was going to take that axe and chop them up with it, but I let it slide. Dino toddler was still up at 1130 and I was beat. I got my keys and packed him in the car in hopes he would fall asleep. About 2 mins from the exit to my house he fell asleep. Yes I was driving home to my bed and to his crib.

While you take a nap dad, I will jump on your back!

We went back in the morning to have a full day on the beach and some hiking in the woods. Toddler Dino loved both.

As good parents do we packed up camp after dinner and headed home. We were exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, we had fun. We just didn’t want to keep going.

Camping is hard work. Your out of you element and your child is dirty from head to toe. Will we do it again? YES, but not till next year.

Right now we are okay with just long day trips!

Camping Trip 1

I was a nervous ~~Nellie~~ mommy! Our camping Trip was a success. Thank you to my family who helped us out. WE had a blast. Calvin slept over 12 hours when he arrived home on Sunday. He was a tired baby. We only had one ooooops moment where Calvin fell on his nogging and busted his head. It really was not that bad. We let our kid get dirty and crawl around in the dirty, A LOT. Thank goodness I brought those 4 long cotton pants and socks. He loved exploring and he didn’t nap as much as we had thought he would. He was way to busy looking, listening and just being a happy baby.

I didn’t want to pack too much, and not enough for those oops forgot that moments.

I used this helpful website to get me started. Then I thought of a list (another list, I KNOW).

20 diapers and 6 swimmy diapers
a new things of wipes
8 onesise
1 hoodie
4 pair of long pants
4 shorts
1 bathing suit
2 hats
bug spray
sunscreen
2 blankets
1 play yard
1 highchair
1 stroller
a few small toys
Tylenol, benadryl, ibuprofen
2 sippie cups
1 plastic bib
4 cloth bibs
2 spoons
4 little jars of applesauce, 4 cans of peas, 4 cans of a dinner combo ( i usually make homemade, but its so much easier to bring the premade stuff)
2 bananas
whole milk and formula. water. juice
crackers, snack foods for the baby
baby carrier
Large blanket to crawl on at the beach or where ever.
soap, shampoo, washcloth
I am probably forgetting a whole bunch more……..but oh well

So this was just the list of things for the baby. Don’t get me started on our things. That would require another list and perhaps your a little listed out.

It was too quiet one day. I went to look for Calvin and this is were I found him.

He was on his big boy bed, playing with his computer. Such a cutie pie.

On another note, my garden is growing fast. I finally transplanted these little buggers to the big garden.

Calvin Drinking his kale, yogurt, berry smoothy! So tasty.

You think I was preggo’s with the way I have been craving coleslaw! This here is an Asian slaw. SO tasty.

Speaking of baby…………….isn’t Calvin so cute?

It doesn’t happen often

Today was just one of those days.

Actually its still very early here 8:15am to be exact.

It’s raining.

The rain hasn’t let up since last night.

It was a peaceful sleep for most of us.

I canceled all plans for today.

Our daily outings are on hold.

This doesn’t happen often.

Neither does going back to bed in the morning for Calvin.

A long busy weekend and RAIN have come over this house like a soft, fluffy, cozy blankey (as Calvin would say).

Sleep my little boy, sleep.

Raindrops are such funny things.
They haven’t feet or haven’t wings.
Yet they sail through the air,
With the greatest of ease,
And dance on the street,
Wherever they please.

Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain
